I knew I always wanted to help people. And for some reason, I thought being a lawyer was the best way to do that.

Founding Partner

Attorney Vaterria McQuitter Martin is more than a lawyer—she’s a fierce advocate for fairness, a trusted guide through life’s toughest moments, and a relentless voice for those who deserve to be heard. Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, she built her career on integrity, empathy, and results.

A graduate of Jackson State University (Magna Cum Laude, 2000) and The University of Mississippi School of Law (2003), Vaterria began her career defending businesses, municipalities, and governmental entities. But she knew she was called to something more personal—something bigger. In 2007, she founded her private practice, shifting her focus to personal injury and family law—areas where real people, not corporations, needed real help.

Vaterria’s legal expertise extends beyond private practice. She’s served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Canton, a legal consultant for Catholic Charities, Inc., and an adjunct professor of Business Ethics at Jackson State University. But no matter the role, one thing remains the same—she fights for justice, not just for clients, but for people.

As co-founder of Martin & Martin, PA, Vaterria believes that justice is personal. She’s not just a lawyer in this community—she’s a part of it. She lives here, raises her children here, and stands beside her clients as family.

I don’t have a magic wand, but I do walk into every case with certainty and purpose. And that purpose is to fight for you—until justice is served

Deshun T. Martin

Founding Partner

Raised in Edwards, Mississippi, Deshun learned early that resilience and faith could turn challenges into purpose. When he lost his father at just ten years old, he didn’t let tragedy define him—he let it fuel him. That determination carried him through Jackson State University (B.A. Political Science, 2001) and The University of Mississippi School of Law (2004), where he sharpened his skills and laid the foundation for a career built on justice and integrity.

After passing the Mississippi Bar Exam, Deshun began his legal career as a Special Assistant Attorney General, where he fought for the rights of Mississippi citizens, served as Special Prosecutor, led the Child Desertion Unit, and helped shape state policies as a Lobbyist for the Attorney General. But he knew his greatest impact would come from standing directly beside the people who needed him most.

In 2014, Deshun co-founded Martin & Martin, PA, a firm that rejects volume-based lawyering in favor of true advocacy. His philosophy? It’s not about how many lawyers you have. It’s about the right lawyer fighting for you.

Every case Deshun takes is personal. Every client who walks through his doors deserves to feel heard, valued, and defended with everything he’s got. His passion isn’t just about winning—it’s about changing lives.
